My son-in-law took the MCATs three times, scoring at the necessary level for medical school on the third attempt! I praise God that he was able to do so! He finished med school, is just now finishing his residency, and will start his new life as a full E.R. doctor in August, 2019! But not for study materials like this one, he might not have even been accepted into medical school. This book is amazing -- chock full of well-organized information and accompanying sketches to assist any serious student preparing for the CEN exam. I am a high school principal who will be placing this excellent book in our resource library for students to understand the depth and breadth of knowledge necessary to be successful in the medical field.
The book packs a lot of information about a variety of emergency conditions into a small space. Because the topics covered by the exam are so varied, going into detail on them all wouldn't be feasible. This prep book does a nice job of giving a concise but dense overview of numerous emergency health conditions and ER nursing-related topics. The diagrams are useful reminders to illustrate what's being covered, and the review questions interspersed throughout the book are great for kicking in that critical thinking mode. There are detailed explanations of the answers at the end of each chapter, which are really helpful as well.
Well-organized content, very specific table of contents, inclusion of graphics to illustrate points in the text. It seems extremely comprehensive and offers tips from people who have actually taken the exam. I also appreciate the inclusion of practice tests to assist with preparation. The "quick review" questions inserted throughout the text ensures mastery of each section before moving on to the next one.
I liked the fact that this book included online resources, especially resources that managed stress to ensure those that are taking the test have all the support they need. I would like a place on how to use the book right after the table of contents.
This book is for LPN's looking for an additional certification and moving towards their RN license. I like the layout, the font choices and the illustrations. Easy to read, easy on the eyes for long periods of studying and how the vocab/important points are bold - emphasizing their importance. I especially like the glossary and the acronym glossary. Very nice feature.
Free DVD offer on inside cover. That plus the online resources makes this an excellent study guide. The study guide provides medical information on 16 topics. With 2 practice tests with over 100 questions (one is online). I found this guide useful. I recommend buying if you are planning to take Certified Emergency Nursing Exam.
This seems like a great resource - it has a study guide and practice tests all in the same book. This book is good for a current RN who wants to be certified to work in an emergency room setting.
Clear and easy to read/navigate layout. Charts and graphs are easy to read. Text seems easy to read and follow. Broad subject coverage. The book is packed with questions which seem to deliver on its promise.
