WOW! This is an excellent book! Actually, it is far more comprehensive than the state mandated 40 hour private investigator course that I recently took in order to get my state PI license. Explanations are clear, interesting, and easy to read. If you learn everything in the book, I believe that you will be well on your way to becoming an excellent investigator.
I very much like this book. It takes you through the ins and outs of being your own private detective. Written by an expert, this book has tons of useful information for both inspired detectives and normal everyday people. This book also puts the reality into everything that you do, and that reality is that it's nothing like on TV. It is a serious business for those who are interested in finding truth, even if that truth is not something you want to hear. I would most definitely recommend this book to others.
Provides a general overview of the profession. I purchased it because it's required reading for those in the State of Alabama who are studying for the Private Investigator exam.
Interesting, informative and enjoyable. I bought a few of these how to for PI to do a little fact checking on the many mysteries I read. This one was not only informative but it didn't put me to sleep. The sly humor and little examples were entertaining. Read this for information or just read it for fun.
First time I picked it up, I could not put it down. Very informative, love this book. I wish I would have got it in the beginning of my career.
I took a four week writer's course from Steven and was delighted with how he presented different scenerios. I ordered this book with the idea of helping me write my amatuer sleuth series. Little did I know that it would also help me in my rental business with tracking down dead beat renters. It also contains info on investigating if someone's divorce is final (a plus for anyone dating today) and other good info.
You know from the beginning that it is not another simply private investigation book, with compilations from another books. This book represent the expertise from the author, and give another dimension to the private investigation career. This book it is a must have for serious investigators.
I liked this book. People who are interested in PI work should be interested in reading this book... One of the things that was especially interesting is the author's writing style and ability to get his message across. Overall, this book was very well written and I highly recommend to those who have not read. To those who have read it - read it again!
