As a reference book for someone experienced with working on two-stroke outboards, this book is invaluable. For the mechanically-inclined person taking his first jump into working on a specific model of outboard, this may not be the ideal reference.Tables of reference information for all of the models covered are extensive. The descriptions and photos of repair and maintenance procedures do not apply to all of the models covered. Some descriptions are too vague or too broadly written to be useful for the hobbyist. In my case, I have a 1961 Evinrude Lark II, and found that many of the procedures and photos were for other motors that were not similar enough to mine to be of much use.If you are planning to work on several motors covered by this book, I'd recommend it for the reference material. If you are looking for detailed, graphic descriptions of how to rebuild your motor, you might look elsewhere.
This was probably the best purchase I could have made for my outboard. If you own one of these vintage outboards, then you know that the mechanics who work on them are a dying (quite literally) breed, and this is a dying technology. No shop in my twon will even touch my vintage 2-strokes-at any price. If you want to keep your two-stroke running, you need this book. Skip the Clymer brand manuals; this is as close as you'll get to the original Johnson-Evinrude manual. PS: I have the Seloc manual for my mid 70's Johnson, and it is every bit as good as this one. I'll be buying other Seloc books in the future.

Invaluable tool for an overhaul/rebuild. However, like all after market manuals, missing dome detail (disassembly/reassembly). Contains all required specs for rebuild of power head, starter, lower unit etc.

The book seems to have a lot of information about the motors in question and covers a wide range of years.
