I have the Kindle version, but I would suggest getting the paper copyso you can make copies and easily keep tabs on certain vocabulary youmay forget. The book is perfect for persons who are beginning to learnthis beautiful language. The stories are easy to follow. There arevocabulary and grammar lessons all through the book. This book is agreat way to learn French. What I liked best about it was that itintroduced you to a French blog that promotes future knowledge of thelanguage and also the author’s email contact is given to allow furtherdiscussion.
I really enjoyed this book! I’ve been learning French for a couple of months now, but lately I’ve been struggling with comprehension. These stories were easy to understand and had helpful vocabulary in them. I liked this book better than some of the others I found because it comes with an audio file that you can read along to, and all the vocabulary words are defined on the next page. I was able to improve both my comprehension and pronunciation as well. This is a great buy if you’re looking to take your French to the next level.
This is a great idea, but the stories are difficult to get through if you truly are a complete beginner, like we are.
I love the layout of this book. The short sections are easy to review and just the right length to keep a feeling of momentum. I also really appreciate the inclusion of phrases and grammar structures in the vocab lists. Great for someone with only a very basic knowledge of French.
This book is very deceptive and it is demoralizing. The title of the book is, "30 French Stories for Complete Beginners." Well, I looked up several words that I didn't know and the frequency of those words were usually well beyond the top 3,000 used words. I'm attaching a picture of a zoomed in portion of one page. There is a lot cut off as to not infringe upon the author's copyrights. So, let's be clear, I would think that a book written for complete beginners would focus on vocabulary words that fell below the 2,000 most frequently used words in French. I gave it a 2 because the audio that accompanies it is a nice touch and easily downloadable. However, other than that, it's pretty disappointing. I'd say this is written more for B2 students. Stay away if you're A1 or A2. Give it a shot if you're B1....
I liked the vocabulary that helps you before each story that helps you follow along. It’s also helps you see how the language is formatted differently from English.
