My 1 y o son's favorite book is little blue truck so we signed up for this book.Every page is basically a repeat of using the 3D car that sticks out so once you've read the first page you'll lose your kids interest pretty fast.
We are huge fans of little blue truck. We have all the books and even the two different trucks; one plush and one metal. The condition and story line of this book is fantastic, but the plush truck on the front cover is lopsided and it is extremely difficult to get it to beep.
Update: 11/20/15 - My original review is below. In the end, my grandson never played with this book beyond the first week. It sits in the bookcase taking up way too much room. Because it is not used at all, I have dropped my rating from a three to a two star.While my grandson enjoys beeping the truck, all of the original charm of "The Little Blue Truck" has been lost in this book. It is the same author and the same illustrator but it was so different, I had to check to see if someone else had taken over. As I read the book to him, all I could think is that the sing-song of the story was to the tune of "If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands." While that is a favorite of my grandson's, it is not at all what I expected from the Little Blue series of books. It also had a feeling of a quick slap-together rather a well-thought out children's story.As I mentioned, my grandson likes it but not in the same way he does the first two board books in the series. With those books, when he comes to visit me, he runs to my bookcase and looks for them and pulls them out to bring to me to read. He sits on my lap and waits with a gleam in his eyes for certain parts of the stories to be read. One or the other is always his choice of a book before nap or bedtime with me. They are so special, his mother and father will not get a copy for him at home. They want it to be for just the two of us.With this book, he sat my himself and beeped the horn. I got him to sit with me for one reading and then he tossed the book aside.I had pre-ordered this book as soon as I saw it was available. I wish I could recommend it as highly as the first two but unfortunately, I cannot. It is okay but just okay.
I saw this book at homegoods and started singing to my 3 year old daughter and she started to giggle through the entire thing and made me sing it to her again. I didn't buy it there cause the car was damaged but I ordered it from here despite all the negative reviews. Yes, the car sticks out quite a bit so I will have to store it differently than her other books in her bookshelf but I love the little song and the squeaky noises and so does my daughter.
These Little Blue Truck books are GREAT!!! I think we have them all and we are hoping the authors will make many more. They are written in such a nice way to keep little ones attention, our Grandson loves therm. I put them at a special place as we want them to stay nice for a very long time, and he really lights up when we get them out to read. Ellen Hassinger
My grandson adores the Little Blue Truck. He loves this book and "beeps" along with the rhyme on every page. The words can also be sung and "beeped" for more fun. A perfect book to interest a toddler in participating in reading and story time.
The pages are a little to flimsy (not a sturdier cardboard) so the pages bend easy with my 3 and 1 year old grandsons turning the pages. If the cardstock was heavier I'd give the book 4-5 stars. But just the very first use has already creased the book. If you didn't have to press down so hard on the truck to make it "beep"/squeak it might not bend so easily.
love how the truck jumps thru the whole book...cute story and delighted that the squeak is hard to activate....this way when you read to them you can activate the horn but they wont drive you crazy with constant horn squeaking
Both my kids (20mth and 4) think this book is pretty great. It's cute, and we all love the stuffed Little Blue, but it's hard to make it squeak and the cardboard of the book isn't very thick... Definitely more cheaply made than the original Little Blue board book.It made a good suffer for my son's Easter basket but it leaves a bit to be desired.
